A supercomputer is claimed to have been powerful enough developed by scientists in Germany. This supercomputer is considered capable of providing important data related to global warming.
Supercomputer with Blizzard's name weighs 35 tons and measuring cables along the 50 kilometers or equal to 31 miles. Blizzard could bring approximately 158 trillion calculations per second, or approximately 158 teraflops.
"Blizzard has a speed 60 times faster than its predecessor. This is the largest supercomputers in duni," said scientists at research centers located in Hamburg, was quoted as saying by the AFP, Jumat (11/12/2009).
According to them, Blizzard's ability to monitor changes in the atmosphere and the ocean make it able to recognize the changes in sea ice and vegetation due to the influence of greenhouse gases and global warming.
"This new supercomputer capable of monitoring the weather just about anything, ranging from mild weather changes that even extreme ones, such as hurricanes or tornadoes," they added.
Blizzard is currently being used to present data on global warming at UN climate change conference in Copenhagen.
