4G mobile

Latest generation of high-speed mobile phone that will be launched at least 2014, may endanger the safety of railways.

Lord Berkeley, chairman Rail Freight Group, warned, the planned 900 MHz spectrum for mobile phones was "very close to the digital radio system used on the world of railways, particularly in the UK".

Labour Party stronghold ever reminded of this - but then the Wireless Telegraphy Act 2006 passed without a vote.

Berkeley states, the worst case scenario, he said, is to adopt technology that can eliminate the interference in the system. However, the fund requires no less, about 100 million pound sterling.

"It's not a train network that must bear the cost of it, but the Department of Transportation, and the parties vigorously promote the four-generation broadband (4G).
