Social network MySpace has been rumored to replace traditional server (direct-attach disk combo) with flash memory servers. The move comes as part of efficiency.

Flash memory cache efficient enough to predict the server. Not only could save space but also able to save energy and costs. Even Flash has a cooling technologies (cooling) are qualified.

Was launched by The Register, Friday (16/10/2009), usually using multiple MySpace 2U rack server that can accommodate 10 to 12 units of 15,000 rpm hard drives. Now the shelves have been reduced by accommodating 1U accelerator card flash memory drives Fusion-io.

In addition to saving space, ioDrives also only takes less than 1 percent of the total electricity capacity consumed by traditional hard drive.

This step virtually MySpace environmentally friendly. Because the consumption of electricity for power and cooling systems are used in flash memory helps a company's effectiveness. Moreover, the failure or weakness that usually faced by hard disk drive can be minimized. It is crowned with MySpace as an operator-friendly data center environment.

"20 years ago, disk storage is a fairly sophisticated innovation in the IT world. But now it has been replaced with flash technology. IoDrives Before, we also have tried to flash another configuration, including RAID'ed," said VP of Technical Operations Richard Buckingham MySpace.
