From statistical data, until early 2010 it is obvious that netbook sales, valuable affordable minicomputer began to show signs of stagnation. Especially when compared with sales in the year 2009.
The reason could be mixed. But certainly, one of the main reasons is the inability to fulfill the need for netbooks faster and powerful.
Latest Intel netbook platform Pine Trail which actually gives the power consumption and better space savings. But from the performance side, not as expected.
But luckily there was good news for netbook market. As quoted from Infogadgetz, May 17, 2010, dual core processor that Intel's first Atom Atom N550 will soon appear in the range of the third quarter of 2010. The processor has a speed of 1.5 GHz with 1MB of L2 cache (each 512KB of L2 cache per core).
This processor is not the first dual-core Atom processors are paired in the netbook. As information, the Asus EeePC 330 Atom 1201N has a dual core processor. However, the processor is not a processor designed specifically for netbooks, but for the nettop.
In terms of energy consumption, there is no significant difference. Numerous sources say, the Atom N550 average power consumption to 8.5 watts. Though still a little more extravagant than the Atom 330 who consumed eight watts, but these numbers are better when considering today's processors have a function that is attached to the Northbridge chip processor.
