Sony Walkman Beat Apple iPod

The first time in over a period of four years, sales of Sony Walkman in Japan beat the Apple iPod.
Last week, electronics research company in Japan called BCN released data showing sales of Sony Walkman portion increased 43 percent until the end of August. This percentage share beat Apple's iPod sales are slightly different in position 42.1 per cent.

CNet, Friday (4/9/2009) launch, this survey only focuses on product sales of digital music player and does not involve the sale of Apple's iPhone. The problem, though sales of the iPhone occupies a high portion, but in fact the multifunctional handset that is still categorized as a phone and not exclusively as a digital music player products.

Sony won this competition purely in terms of sales volume each followed one after another. Apple iPod Nano 8GB capacity reaches the highest sales charts with percentages of 21.7 percent, while the Sony Walkman NW-E042 series is second only to the percentage of the market 6.2 percent.

But the defeat was treated with the achievement of Sony top six of the ten different Walkman models. In addition to the sale of Nano 8GB, Apple increase sales volume of three products 16 GB iPod Nano, iPod Classic and iPod Shuffle.

Even so the outcome of the overall sales volume showed Sony the upper hand over Apple. BCN predicted, competition between them in the digital music player products will be more heated after Apple's celebration, held on 9 September. The problem, in that event, Apple will spawn a new iPod model that will tighten the competition digital music player market
