A Russian architectural firms presented their detailed plans to build an area referred to as 'mega city' environmentally friendly. The city itself will be built underground.If nothing gets in the way, the city will be built in the former a mine in eastern Siberia region. The mine in question has a diameter of more than a kilometer and a depth of 550 meters.
As quoted from TG Daily, 17 November 2010, a glass dome will be built on the city. The aim is to protect the metropolitan underground from a frozen winter in Siberia as well as very high temperatures in summer.
Glass dome that was built on it is also mentioned to be coated by a layer of photovoltaic cells. This layer is capable of storing solar energy in large quantities.
Developers estimate the project underground city can accommodate up to 100 thousand people. They will live in residential areas at levels designed specifically for human habitation.
In addition to residential areas, there is also a floor that was built specifically to accommodate a vertical farm, forest and recreation zone.
City of workmanship will be performed by AB Elise, architectural firms from Moscow, Russia was given the name Eco-city 2020.
