Fans of home theater or home cinema would be presented with new options. The plan, as one member of the Sharp Blu-Ray Association, will become the first company to launch a new Blu-ray discs, VR-100BR1, capable of storing up to 100 GB of data.
Choice of large enough capacity so tempting considering Blu-ray discs are more outstanding is the maximum capacity of 50 GB (dual layer). So that its capacity 'jump', VR-100BR1 using standard triple layer.
According to Sharp, VR-100BR1 intentionally made based on new BDXL specification format that has been introduced by the Association of Blu-ray in April 2010. This new format diaku can store data up to 128 GB for a disposable disk (write-once) and 100 GB for disks that can be rewritten or rewriteable.
The number of larger storage space can be improved by using four-layer disc or a rise of two-layer Blu-ray discs available. Blu-ray discs disposable plan will be able to store approximately 12 hours of video with a digital television broadcast formats, or 8.6 hours with a digital satellite broadcast format.
Blu-ray discs will be available in Japan in late July 2010, valued at a price of U.S. $ 60 per chip. Sharp will also release two devices that support this format, AQUOS BD-and BD-HDW70 HDW700.
