Britain is currently testing a revolutionary weapon that can track the location of enemy forces sniper quickly and accurately from a distance of 1000 yards or about 900 m.
As quoted from dailymail, this little device has been developed by scientists working on secret lab Defence Science and Technology Laboratory in Wiltshire, England.
The device called Boomerang Warrior-X was able to detect the location of the sniper quickly, so that British troops will be able to hit back at the sniper earlier.
This detector uses a sophisticated acoustic processing technology to evaluate the enemy's position by determining the coordinates of a target on a small screen as the indicator.
Warrior-X is equipped with a processor that has the most sophisticated detectors on the market. Detector has also been modified by U.S. military scientists for use in Iraq.
When the enemy fire, the acoustic system will know the direction of enemy fire, and display the tool will show the indicator arrow that shows the location of the enemy.
This technology also uses a software that is able to provide regular updates on the location of the enemy, even when the enemy is moving because they feel cornered.
Not only that, the Warrior-X also can be connected with weapons systems Joint Tactical Air Controllers to provide the exact location of enemy to the fighter pilots who want to conduct air strikes.
The weapon is officially known as the Compact Shooter Soldier worn-Detector System, each unit sold for 10 thousand pounds.
British troops have been ordered 1,000 units of Warrior-X for use in Helmand Province of Afghanistan. When the appliance in proven helpful, the UK will equip more troops with this gadget.
"This tool can help a little a lot more troops to maintain their safety. The beginning of a larger model of this tool has been used by U.S. forces in Iraq, also in Afghanistan. However, this is the first for the UK and can be viewed as a revolutionary tool," said senior British military source.
